Services:

Anatomical & Instructional Illustration
We are capable of generating images for a wide variety of medical, anatomical, and scientific texts, magazines, journals, and presentations.  These visuals are done primarily in 2D for print and are educational in nature.
These illustrations are based on extensive research and observation to ensure attention to detail and accuracy.  We can work in a variety of media depending on the client’s needs.  Additionally we can compose and incorporate appropriate texts to accompany our illustrations.  The following link is an example of our experience creating visuals to accompany articles in journals (Figures 1 & 2).

Editorial Illustration
Highly dynamic editorial illustrations are another element we generate.  These are more conceptual and dramatic in nature to catch the attention of the viewer and invite them for a closer look.  These may include interesting points of view and color schemes to excite and inspire the viewer.

Surgical or Procedure Illustration
This illustration is done to visually record the essential steps seen in a surgery or procedure. These illustrations are meant to orient and instruct the viewer through a series of descriptive images.  We work with medical professionals to ensure accuracy and clarity when documenting procedures with our surgical illustration techniques.  We have been trained in aseptic technique and have spent time observing in ORs.

Patient Education Illustration
This type of illustration is meant especially for patients and the lay public to inform them about health and medicine.  It takes into consideration the stress and fears that might affect their understanding of medical information and presents them understandable visuals and descriptions.  At Lilienthal Illustration we specialize in creating visuals that are tailored to be affective for specific patient populations.  We believe that patients throughout the world deserve adequate education.

Pharmaceutical, Biotechnical and Device Illustration
The use of drugs, medical devises and prosthetics in medicine is common and our illustrations can help show these helpful components of medicine in action.  We can create promotional images of a product as well as illustrations for educational purposes.

Medical Legal Illustration
Much like our patient education illustration, we are able to create courtroom visuals that are appropriate for a jury drawn from the lay population.  Out visuals help educate the jury about medical conditions and procedures through comprehensible images.   We are able incorporate portraiture, photography, radiographs and other pertinent visual information to portray the medical situation.

Animation & Multimedia
Movement and interactivity are sometimes the best solution to a visual communication problem.  We can help bring your subject matter to life through our 2D and 3D animation services and interactive media.  Using a variety of software we can create movies that show important motion and action.  We can also use our 3D animation skills to generate not only movies but highly rendered 2D art work.  We also can create interactive media, which will give the end user a more personal and memorable experience.

Media:

Traditional Tone
Full value range of black to white using the shades of grey in between.  Usually done with graphite.

Digital Color
Full color image generated with digital software.  Often the image will start out without color using traditional drawing techniques and be brought into color using digital techniques in programs like Photoshop.

Black & White Graphic
Use of black line on a white background. Usually done with Pen & Ink and Adobe Illustrator.  May include spot color for emphasis.

Subject Specialties:

Student and Patient Education Illustration
Our work in Patient Education is currently being used worldwide.  A unique animation is being used in Cusco, Peru at a cervical cancer clinic to educate women who speak either Spanish or Quechua(a non-written language).  It is also being used to educate at the Medical College of Georgia in the Medical, Dental Hygiene, and Occupational Therapy programs.

Scientific Illustration
Besides working in medicine and healthcare, we also enjoy creating scientific illustrations.  Past projects have included limb musculature of the guinea pig and marine toad.  We understand the significance that biology and the life sciences play in better understanding humans and the world around us.

Anatomical Illustration
Taking human anatomy beside medical students and participating in cadaver dissections provides us with exceptional knowledge of human anatomy and our ability to illustrate your anatomical needs.  We are comfortable doing research to ensure accuracy and clarity of anatomy.  Our interactive illustrations of the Plantar Anatomy of the Foot has been made available to the 1st year Medical Students at the Medical College of Georgia as a study device.

Surgical Illustration
We have significant experience in surgical illustration.  Our illustrations are currently being used by surgeons for patient education, peer-reviewed journals and in presentations.
